Kia ora ano
Scratch my last post. I have now read the info on the site and see that the local tangata whenua have been involved and that a respectful relationship exists between tangata whenua there and here. I did not realise the extent to which northern rangatira sent their children tawahi to get upskilled in pakeha ways. Given that Hongi was a great traveller, I shouldn’t have been surprised. Nga mihi mo o koutou mahi ki reira. I wish the whanau well in ensuring that the children who died there finally rest in peace.
